The role
PlanetScale needs a video editor to cut and animate YouTube videos, social shorts, conference talks and launch films. You'll work closely with the marketing team, with time and budget to try new tools.
What you'll do
- Edit YouTube videos, from explainers to interviews, paced to hold attention
- Cut Shorts and vertical clips for social platforms
- Turn conference talks into full videos and shareable clips
- Edit launch videos where timing and polish carry the announcement
- Make thumbnails, title cards, typography and motion graphics

- Portfolio showing strong editing across YouTube, short form and podcasts
- Sharp sense of pacing, structure and story
- Comfort with editing, animation and clean typography
- Fluency in Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro
- Experience using AI tools and custom scripts to automate parts of your pipeline
Nice to have
- Experience editing tech or developer content
- Experience with code-driven video tools like Remotion
